Purpose:

The Internal Wholesaler Specialist plays a critical role in driving annuity sales growth through consultative support, proactive outreach, and deep product and market expertise. This hybrid role combines traditional internal wholesaling responsibilities with solution-based selling, competitive positioning, and strong advisor relationship management.
Partnering closely with Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs), Internal Wholesalers (IWs), and sales leadership, this role serves as a trusted resource to financial professionals by uncovering opportunities, delivering actionable sales ideas, strengthening producer engagement, and supporting the growth of assigned territories. The position is focused on expanding Athene’s presence across independent broker-dealers and financial institutions, with an emphasis on Registered Index-Linked Annuities (RILAs), Fixed, and Fixed Indexed Annuities.

Accountabilities:

•    Proactively prospect within assigned territories to acquire new producers, leveraging lead-generation tactics, referrals, and targeted outreach to expand distribution relationships.
•    Conduct a high volume of proactive outbound activity (minimum of 45 calls per day) to drive appointments, uncover sales opportunities, and deepen advisor engagement.
•    Identify, onboard, and develop new advisors while strengthening and expanding relationships with existing partners.
•    Work closely with AVP, Internal Sales, RVPs, and internal sales teams to develop and execute business plans that maximize sales and achieve growth objectives.
•    Strategically plan and deploy marketing initiatives, sales campaigns, and territory resources to maximize impact and performance.
•    Collaborate across wholesaling teams to capitalize on sales opportunities and deliver cohesive sales strategies.
•    Deliver superior education to advisors on Athene’s product features, benefits, value propositions, and competitive positioning.
•    Conduct product and sales training through one-on-one and group sessions, webinars, conference calls, seminars, workshops, and branch meetings.
•    Keep producers informed of product updates, rate changes, enhancements, and market conditions impacting annuity sales.
•    Maintain expert-level knowledge of the competitive landscape and clearly articulate Athene’s differentiators.
•    Create and present compelling sales ideas, client solutions, and retirement planning strategies tailored to advisor needs.
•    Increase sales through a combination of internal activity and select field engagement, including in-person meetings when appropriate.
•    Manage territory planning, budgeting, and expense responsibilities in alignment with sales objectives.
 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of prior wholesaling experience, with demonstrated success growing a territory as measured by sales results.

  • Strong knowledge of the annuity marketplace, including RILA, Fixed, and Fixed Indexed Annuities.

  • Experience wholesaling Registered Index-Linked Annuities preferred.

  • FINRA Series 6 or Series 7 license required; Life & Health license required.

  • Deep understanding of retirement planning concepts and consultative sales strategies.

  • Proven sales acumen with strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of the advisor community and broader financial services industry.

  • Completion of Wholesaler University or a similar development program preferred.

  • Travel requirements range from minimal to moderate (approximately 10–20%), depending on territory needs.
