Duties & Responsibilities

Our reputable Tool Wholesaler client is seeking a Junior Debtors Clerk to join their team based in Bluff, Durban.

 

Salary:

R10 000.00 – R12 000.00 (depending on experience)

Pension fund offered after 1 year

 

 

Working Hours:

Office based

7:30 am to 4:30 pm (Monday to Thursday)

7:30 am to 3:30pm (Friday)

 

Requirements:

 

  • Matric
  • Diploma/ Degree in Accounting
  • Reliable transport to and from work
  • Proficient in MS Excel/Office and Babbage/Kerridge system
  • 1-2 years experience in the FMCG/ Wholesaler Industry
  • 1-2 years experience as a Junior Debtors Clerk
  • Understanding of the Credit Guarantee System
  • Previous Accounting experience

Responsibilities:

 

  • Capture payments from bank statements.
  • Phoning customers on the chase list and updating the diary.
  • Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts.
  • Plan a course of action to recover outstanding payments.
  • Locate and contact debtors to inquire of their payment status.
  • Negotiate payoff deadlines or payment plans.
  • Handle questions or complaints.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Allocations
  • Opening/closing of accounts.
  • Overriding for sales.
  • Reconciliation of accounts.
  • Claims – Requesting RFC/ Price difference.
  • Applying CGIC for customers.
  • Processing Final demands for customers on overdue accounts.
  • Reviewing age analysis. 
  • Processing credit notes.
  • Sending customers credit notes.
  • Assisting with Petty Cash.
  • Credit Application.
  • Checking/compiling scanning to drive and filing.
  • Conducting trade references and updating reports.
  • Update account status and database regularly.
  • Alert superiors of debtors unwilling or unable to pay when necessary.
  • Sending reports (Exposure limit, customer account on stop, credit app report, over limit + risk report, reps report).
  • Filing
  • Assisting with supervisors’ tasks.
